Quest apprenticeships allow colleagues to gain new skills, knowledge and nationally accredited qualifications.  Study is mainly online with Exeter college.  There is no change to your terms and conditions and you study alongside your current role.  This apprenticeship will start in March 2024.

 Who is the apprenticeship suitable for?

This apprenticeship suitable for colleagues who have the opportunity to be involved in business improvement and in a position to influence change with GWR.  You will need to be working towards and achieve the following job role requirements before their End Point Assessment:

• Involvement in projects; from setting objectives through to implementation and evaluation
• Accessing analysis data and financial information relevant to consulting projects
• Taking the lead in team situations
• Presenting in and running meetings
• Creating reports

 What does the apprenticeship involve?

The Management Consultant offers a wide range of management themes which can be applied to both internal and external customers, including:

• Understanding different industry sectors and how management can support different areas of the organisation
• Understanding different approaches for effective people and team management
• Developing leadership and management knowledge skills.
• Managing relationships with stakeholders
• Understanding key financial performance indicators
• Developing project management skills - how a project moves through its lifecycle

What's in it for me?

You will develop your ability to lead individuals and teams to success, developing techniques to assess current and future team capabilities, including the role of recruitment, selection and staff development.  You'll understand your own organisation in the wider context and learn how you can help make valuable changes.

You'll achieve the Level 4 Junior Management Consultant Apprenticeship standard and CMI Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management.  Apprentices will become student members of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) as the first step of professional membership whilst achieving the CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership.

Our Delivery Partner

The 24-month programme will be delivered by Ofsted Outstanding Exeter College through a mix of online and some face-to-face sessions.  This will provide continuous support and development for each learner and facilitate effective learner progress.  You will be required to be released for study or online learning two days a month and you will have planned eight weekly reviews with your Skills Officer to discuss progress and on programme support.  You should also expect to undertake some study in your own time.

Apprentices without Level 2 English and mathematics will be supported to complete functional skills qualifications during the apprenticeship.  Exeter College tutors have a strong track record of success working with apprentices on these programmes and will devise a learning plan to suit individual needs to achieve.  Additional release from duty will be required for this.

Applicants will be required to complete an application form and if short listed, attend an on-line information session with the college tutor. 

Please note, as part of the short-listing process, your application form will be shared with Exeter College.

Remember

• Study is online and you will only need to occasionally travel to Exeter college
• There is no upper age limit for apprenticeships
• Your terms and conditions don't change – you stay in your current role.
